Thinh Q. Tran

Thinh Q. Tran

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Tran, a co-founder of Sigma Designs, has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since the Company's inception in 1982. Under Mr. Tran's leadership, the Company has grown from a small start-up to a multimillion-dollar public company, weathering the many ups and downs of the industry, economy, and rapid changes in technology. Mr. Tran has played an integral role in transitioning the business from solutions for personal computer displays to solutions for consumer appliances. Prior to founding Sigma Designs, Mr. Tran was employed by Amdahl Corporation and Trilogy Systems Corporation, both of which were involved in the IBM-compatible mainframe computer market. Mr. Tran received a B.S.E.E. from the University of Wisconsin in 1974 and his M.S.E.E. from Stanford University in 1975.

Elias Nader

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Nader has over 20 years of experience in Finance and Accounting. Before joining Sigma Designs, Mr. Nader was the Chief Financial Officer for Imperial Holding, based in Europe and the Middle East. He has also been a financial consultant with a number of global companies in Europe and the Middle East where he applied his proficiency in French, Spanish and Arabic. Mr. Nader has also served as Corporate Controller for Bay Area-based Dionex Corporation (acquired by Thermo-Fisher). Prior to Dionex, he was the Vice President of Finance at InterWave Communications (acquired by Alvarion, Inc.). Mr. Nader's strong leadership skills have served him in a number of roles with leading companies such as Adaptive Broadband, Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), VeriFone and Seagate. Mr. Nader holds an MBA from San Jose State University.

Mustafa Ozgen

Mustafa Ozgen

Vice President and General Manager Home Multimedia Business Unit

Mr Ozgen has over 20 years of professional experience, including 15 years in the consumer electronics software and semiconductor industry in engineering management and executive positions. He is responsible for Sigma's IPTV, STB, Media Player and TV business lines. Prior to Sigma, Mr Ozgen served as the Vice President of Home Entertainment Products at CSR Technology, a UK-based provider of consumer electronics solutions. For the previous eight years, he worked at Zoran, a public company with $450 million annual revenue which merged with CSR in 2011. At Zoran he held the post of Vice President and General Manager of the TV Business Unit. Mr Ozgen has also worked in engineering and management positions at Oak Technology, TeraLogic, Wind River Systems. He received his BS in Computer Engineering summa cum laude from the Turkish Naval Academy and a MS in Computer Science from the US Naval Post-Graduate School. He attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business' Executive Program for Growing Companies in General Management.

Sal Cobar

Sal Cobar

Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing

Mr. Cobar has more than 30 years of professional experience in the high technology industry. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Silicon Image, a leading developer of secure cores for high definition displays. He founded the new HDMI business for the television, set-top box, PC and AVR markets. During his tenure from 2002 to 2010, Mr. Cobar drove successful design wins, penetrated consumer electronic markets and played a fundamental role in driving the company's growth to over $200M in annualized sales. Previously, Mr. Cobar worked for Sun Microsystems as Director of Strategic Sales and Marketing for Volume Server/Thin Client Products, where he grew sales from zero to $72 million in less than two years. He has also worked for Xerox Corporation as a Process Manufacturing Engineer. Mr. Cobar holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from San Jose State University and a Masters in Business Administration/Marketing from Golden Gate University.

Kenneth Lowe

Kenneth A. Lowe

Vice President, Strategic Marketing

Mr. Lowe joined the company in May 2000 as Vice President of Marketing and served as Vice President of Business Development from January 2001 to early 2010. Prior to joining Sigma Designs, Mr. Lowe served as the Director of Multimedia Marketing for Cadence Design Systems. Before that, he founded his own technology company, Performix, and also held various marketing management positions at Sierra Semiconductor, Chrontel, and Dataquest. In the late 1980s, Mr. Lowe served as Product Marketing Director of Sigma Designs.

Kit Tsui

Kit Tsui

Managing Director, Sigma Designs Technology Singapore

Ms. Tsui was appointed Managing Director, Singapore Operations in April 2008. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Tsui was the Vice President of Planning and Administration (February 2007 to April 2008), Chief Financial Officer (January 2001 to February 2007), and Chief Accounting Officer (January 2000 to January 2001). Ms. Tsui Sigma in November 1982 as its Accounting Manager. She was promoted to Director of Finance in February 1990 and to Corporate Secretary in December 1996. Ms. Tsui received a B.S. degree in accounting from San Francisco State University.

Jacques Martinella

Jacques Martinella

Vice President, Engineering

Mr. Martinella has been the Vice President of Engineering at Sigma Designs since December 1995. He joined the company in May 1994 as Director, VLSI Engineering. From June 1990 to April 1994, Mr. Martinella served in engineering and management positions at Weitek, a graphics chip manufacturer. Mr. Martinella was an engineer at National Semiconductor, a semiconductor manufacturer, from June 1982 to June 1990. Mr. Martinella received an engineering diploma from "Ecole Superieure d'Electricite" in Paris and an M.S.E.E. from Stanford University.

Mark Bonney

Mark J. Bonney

Mr. Bonney has over 35 years of experience, holding various senior executive financial and operating positions, in middle market, high technology companies, both in the United States and abroad. He is currently president and CEO of On Board Advisors, LLC, a strategic and financial advisory firm. more »

From March 2010 until November 2012 Mr. Bonney served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Direct Brands, Inc., a direct-to-consumer media company. Direct Brands and its affiliate, Bookspan, are the largest direct-to-consumer distributor of media products in North America. From February 2008 to March 2010, Mr. Bonney served as Vice President and the General Manager of the Authentication Solutions Group of JDS Uniphase Corporation ("JDSU"), a global leader in optical technologies and telecommunications. From June 2005 until its sale to JDSU in February 2008, Mr. Bonney served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Bank Note Holographics, Inc. ("ABNH"), a publicly traded, global leader in optical security devices.

Mr. Bonney also served as an outside director and chairman of the audit committee of ABNH from February 2003 until June 2005. From August 1999 to March 2002, Mr. Bonney was President and Chief Operating Officer of Axsys Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of highly sophisticated components and subsystems used in aerospace, defense, data storage, medical and other high technology markets. From March 1993 to August 1999, Mr. Bonney was the Chief Financial Officer of Zygo Corporation, a manufacturer of metrology measurement and control systems and optical components used in semiconductor, data storage and other high technology markets.

Mr. Bonney also serves as chairman of the board of the Community Health Center, Inc. and as a director of MRV Communications and Zix Corporation. Mr. Bonney received a BS in Business Administration from Central Connecticut State University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Hartford.

Tor Braham

Tor Braham

Prior to joining Sigma, Mr. Braham served as Managing Director and Global Head, Technology, Mergers and Acquisitions for Deutsche Bank Securities, an international financial service group, from 2004 until 2012. more »

From 2000 to 2004, he served as Managing Director and Co-head, West Coast U.S. Technology, Mergers and Acquisitions for Credit Suisse First Boston, an international financial services group. Prior to that, Mr. Braham was an investment banker with UBS Securities and a lawyer at a prominent Silicon Valley law firm. Mr. Braham earned a B.A. degree from Columbia College and a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law. Mr. Braham currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors at NetApp, Inc.

J Michael Dodson

J. Michael Dodson

Mr. Dodson has served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Mattson Technology, Inc., a semiconductor wafer processing equipment manufacturing company, since October 2012 having joined Mattson in October 2011 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in October 2011. more »

Prior to joining Mattson, Mr. Dodson served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at DDi Corp., a provider of printed circuit board engineering and manufacturing services, from January 2010 until October 2011. Before joining DDi Corp., Mr. Dodson served as a partner at Tatum, LLC, a provider of executive services on an interim or special project basis, from October 2009 to January 2010, and served from December 2005 to January 2009 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with eTelecare Global Solutions, Inc., a provider of business process outsourcing services. Prior to joining eTelecare, Mr. Dodson served as Chief Financial Officer for Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. and SpeedFam – IPEC, Inc. and also served as Chief Accounting Officer for Novellus Systems,Inc.

Mr. Dodson started his career with Ernst & Young LLP in the San Jose office where he served in the Audit Department for over ten years. Mr. Dodson holds a B.B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Martin Manniche

Martin Manniche

Mr. Manniche is the Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Greenwave Systems, a technology development and services company which works with leading service providers, lighting manufacturers, insurance and utilities companies across the world. more »

Mr. Manniche brings a strong visionary presence to Sigma's board with an incredible track record of innovation in consumer electronics, home networking and services platforms for Home control, and the Internet of Things.

Mr. Manniche is a highly successful serial entrepreneur and has founded and successfully grown a number of innovative companies, collecting over 100 innovation awards in the process. Under his leadership, Greenwave was awarded the Nobel Sustainability Supported Clean Tech Company 2013 in recognition for its inventive and effective initiatives and technologies to help consumer manage their energy consumption. Prior to Greenwave Systems, Manniche served as the Chief Technology Officer for the Cisco Consumer Business Group where he helped Cisco's consumer group successfully grow their business and innovation. Manniche has also held multiple board and advisory board positions in 12 different companies during his career.

Pete Thompson

Pete Thompson

Pete Thompson is Senior Vice President of the Mediaroom Business Group at Ericsson. Thompson manages a global organization of engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and customer support teams. more »

These teams are defining the future of home entertainment through the development of television products that appeal to consumers, producers and carriers alike. In this role, he is responsible for Ericsson's portfolio of full-featured TV Platforms for managed networks including the Mediaroom, Multiscreen (MMP) and Content Management System (CMS) product lines.

Thompson joined Ericsson with the acquisition of Microsoft Mediaroom. During his seven year tenure at Microsoft, Thompson helped develop and scale a number of high-profile initiatives including the Microsoft Surface large form-factor computer and the Xbox LIVE global entertainment service. He most recently served as Corporate Vice President of the Mediaroom Division. Prior to Microsoft, Thompson held positions at T-Mobile, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola.

Thompson received a Bachelor's Degree in international economics from the University of California Los Angeles and a Masters in Management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Transparency in Supply Chains

Disclosure Pursuant to California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010

Sigma Designs, Inc. is committed to fair employment practices and to following applicable employment law wherever it has operations. To comply with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010, the company is in the process of taking certain actions to address the law but has not completed some or all of the following:

  1. Engage in third party verification of product supply chains to evaluate and address risk of human trafficking and slavery.
  2. Conduct independent, unannounced audits of suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards for trafficking and slavery in supply chains.
  3. Require suppliers to certify that raw materials and services incorporated into the product comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they are doing business.
  4. Maintain internal accountability standards and procedures for employees or contractors failing to meet company standards regarding slavery and trafficking.
  5. Provide company employees and management training on human trafficking and slavery, particularly with respect to mitigating risks with the supply chains of products.
